Pickled Onion dethroned in 4×7 Cup

By Jennifer Erskine

November 19, 2023 was a cold Saturday afternoon when the Draft Choice 4×7 Cup team traveled to Renton’s Pickled Onion Pub in search of some competition. The goal was to defeat the current Cup holders and return home with the 4×7 Cup.

The match started out with a bang when Tony from Draft Choice nailed two Hat Tricks straight away in game one.

The subsequent games toggled back and forth as each team continued to throw huge darts; 7-Counts, Hat Tricks, and 3-In-The-Bed.

Pickled Onion’s Carl and Brian load up the bases with big closes to tie up the game 5-5.

Halfway through the match, and the Draft Choice team has taken the upper hand, leading by one game; 9-8.

Both teams maintained an incredible level of shooting skill as the match progressed. In game 21, Tony, Draft Choice, and Mark, Pickled Onion, each chalk up Hat Tricks before John, Draft Choice, takes out a 93 for the win! What an exciting day of darts by both teams!

Tony and Paul, Draft Choice, stay consistent, keeping them ahead in the match. In game 22, Kevin, Pickled Onion, hit four Triple 20’s, throwing only six darts!

The Pickled Onion came back to win the last five games to once again defend the 4×7 Cup with success. Final score was 17-15. Close match guys!

Later, on December 10, 2011, the Pickled Onion was set to defend their 4×7 Cup from the challenging team out of Flights Pub, Everett.

Not without a fight, Pickled Onion takes game one. Brian is the first to get a Hat Trick in game 2, before Mark used all three darts to take out a 25 for the win. Back and forth, back and forth, until after six games it was still all tied up.

Flights proceeded to go on a hot streak, winning four in a row. Pickled Onion picked up the pace to again tie it up after 12 games. Every game was so close!

But then, Flights ran away with the match, winning seven of the next ten games to take a 13-9 lead. Brian scored a 3-In-The-Black in game 24 to proove that the Pickled Onion was still in it. Staying strong, Pickled Onion brought the match to within one game after 27.

Justin opened game 29 with 3-In-The-Bed on the 20s, pushing Flights to a 17-15 win of the 4×7 Cup, thereby taking the Cup away from a tough Pickled Onion team. Great job guys! Go forth and conquer!
