Medalist pulls off a masterful Mid-America Zone Finals tournament
They came from all over Mid-America. Descending on “The Gateway To the South” (AKA: Covington Kentucky).
We met at the Radisson Cincinnati Riverfront over a blustery weekend in January for what was billed as “An Epic Tournament – One of Cozy Camaraderie.”
Over 300 teams advanced to the finals, and all were in the money. The total payout to league teams was $50,065, plus an additional $11,950 paid out over nine Singles and Bring-Your-Own-Partner events.
From the first dart thrown in the Friday night Singles events, to the last Pit Match Sunday night, the room was a bustling place! This tournament required seamless integration between two separate portions of the hotel’s convention spaces, as well as a tent, which was setup especially for the event, and used for the Operations Stage, The Trophy Display, and “The Pit” (home of the finals for Medalist events for over 25 years!).
Players universally praised the staff of the hotel, as well as the staffs of the Medalist Affiliated Operators (Shaffer Services, Shaffer Distributing, Entertainment Experts, AH Entertainers, DJ White Horse, and KGB Amusements), for their assistance in making the tournament a success.
