Latitude sparkles and shines
By Ty Hughes
Dart tournaments at Tacoma’s Latitude 84 are cranking along.
Especially strong at the Latitude are their monthly $300 Added Brings on the 3rd Saturday of each month. They’ve been getting a solid turnout for this one. Sese, Latitude 84’s Manager, and dart player, is happy about the fact that people are coming out to play. She explained that some negative comments had been keeping players at bay, but she was quick to assure me they were completely unfounded, even ridiculous.
From my vantage point, the Latitude is, and always has been, friendly and fun.
Andy Chong, Bar Owner, and his staff, including Sese, have worked hard to keep a tight ship, maintaining a clean, bright, and highly functional bar atmosphere for their regulars.
The servers are cute and friendly, and dart players like Melvin, Cary, Victor, Lynette, Mikki, Pree, Joe and Brenda (who are doing fabulously, thank you very much), receive preferred bar service at all times.
Pree, himself, runs the shoots at the Latitude, and does a great job.
His players enjoy his company and easy-going attitude. Mikki really likes him too, but for a completely different set of reasons.
Everybody was super chill at their Saturday, November 19 shoot. That Tacoma group is always upbeat and interesting. Outside of Dawson’s, Tacoma darts have been a bit fragmented lately. But thankfully, these things are generally short-lived. Inevitably, we’ll see the cohesion of players reunite. There are many players that I’d like to see again.
Darts is something that most old-timers will gravitate toward multiple times throughout their lives. And every time, they’re relieved to find the comfort of old friends among a slew of unfamiliar faces new to the game.
Latitude 84 is actually hosting an After-League Dart Tournament every Tuesday night, which is brand new, and Thursday night. Both get started around 9:30 or so, as soon as everyone gets there after shooting their league matches.
I had the opportunity to shoot with Mikki’s brother, Ryan, who was quick to admit that he’d never really played before. He looked up to his sister and her accomplishments within the sport, even bragging a bit on her ranking among Medalist females. We did our best, but pretty much only won one game all day. Hopefully we’ll see Ryan back at the boards again soon. By the way, if anyone needs any kind of electronic mastery performed, Ryan promises to save you a ton of money! Give him a call.
Check out the Latitude 84 with Pree sometime this week; Tuesdays, Thursdays, and 3rd Saturday afternoon at 3pm. Support the locations that support you!
