Friendship Cup sets sail in Kent

By Wil Burton
What started as an idea at the beginning of the dart season between two bar owners finally became reality on November 9, 2013.
Jeff, Monte Carlo, and Bobby, Pied Piper, came up with an idea to devise a cup between their two bars, and called it The Friendship Cup. They wanted it to serve as two cups; an A Flight, and a B Flight.
Rules for the cups are simple; race to 17 games, players must play league for their respective locations. A few unique rules include, rotating starts, no 3-game rule, and if player 1 takes out a game, player 2 starts the next one.
The Friendship Cup will play every month, switching hosts back and forth. In November, A Flight shot at Monte Carlo, and B Flight shot at Pied Piper. So in December, A Flight will be at Pied Piper, and B Flight at Monte Carlo.
Kicking off the A Flight at Monte Carlo was Miles, Chris, Dale, and Harley for Pied Piper, Wil, Mike, Jay, and Lonnie for Monte Carlo.
The first 14 games went back and forth. Low Tons and 6-counts all afternoon. Monte Carlo went on to win the match, 17-11.
Meanwhile, at Pied Piper, the B Flight Friendship Cup was underway. Pied Piper won that one, giving credence to the concept of ‘homefield advantage’.
