The Johnson Joust?

By Ty Hughes

The Pickled Onion Pub in Renton hosted their first $700 Added Men’s Only Shoot on August 10, 2013. Considered a success, the inaugural event drew 14 male players, and their supporting friends out for a good night of frivolous fun and laughter, during the same weekend as Medalist Triple Crown event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Susie West, Pickled Onion’s Co-Coordinator, handled the men with her usual finesse and panache. Players came from every direction to experience the action for themselves, including many new faces, along with many familiar faces.

After the darts began to fly, the Pickled Onion staff ran around petitioning for a proper name for the tournament going forward. A name to rival their most recent “Angry Beaver”, all-women’s shoot. Some of the ideas being tossed around for consideration included, “The Johnson Joust”, and the “Tournament of Tallywhackers”, among others just as creative. The jury is still out on this one, so keep your eyes peeled.

The Pickled Onion is a forerunner for successful tournament concepts, as they’re always pushing the envelope to invent new ways of presenting creative dart shoots.

On August 24th, anyone with an August birthday was invited to play in their $500 Added Birthday Shoot, enjoying the luxury of free entry!

Check out the Pickled Onion Pub for darts, music, food, and great spirits. They would love to host your Fall Medalist league teams, so be sure and get signed up for another exciting season of dart leagues out of the Pickled Onion. They promise to take good care of you and your teammates, in every way possible.
