Pickled Onion remembers a friend
By Darryl Rieux
On March 13, the Pickled Onion hosted a $1000 Gtd. Added dart tournament in honor of an extremely well-loved man. A man who made a huge difference in a whole bunch of people’s lives, Mr. Bobby Magee. A man who died suddenly and without notice, now three years ago. A man who will be forever remembered for his loyalty, dedication and friendship.
Dart players from all around the greater Seattle area and beyond came out to play in the 3rd Annual Memorial for Bobby Magee. A staggering 37 teams came out to support the Pickled Onion in honor of Bobby, who’s image loomed large over the dart room. Those same thirty-seven teams would eventually square off for a piece of the very lucrative winnings. Only four teams would go home as winners on this night. Out of respect for the late Bobby Magee, most of the Pickled Onion players wore their Pickled Onion shirts/jerseys.
“Bobby Magee was a good friend and mentor to most. You always knew when Bobby entered the room.” Those that knew him, his presence was felt. Bobby was well known for his competitive spirit.
And the competition on this night was definitely tough. Players had to bring their “A” game” tonight if they even stood a chance at getting their hands on any big money. Even the “A” game sometimes is not enough. To contend with some of these sharp shooters that refuse to lose, you need your “A++” game.
Congratulations to all the winners on this extra special evening. The Pickled Onion sends out a big “Thank You” to all the people and players that came out and attended Bobby Magee’s Third Memorial Dart Shoot. This one’s for you ol’ buddy!
